I am going to take things on a more personal note today. I was cleaning my kitchen and was thinking about snacks and foods that I can not and do not have. Here is the deal. My husband has snacks…a lot of them…he throws away more than he eats. We have a small kitchen when it comes to space to place items. We do not have a pantry except for the one we bought for me, and that holds all my foods.
It’s hard to break old habits. I won’t lie….it’s a bitch! Break the habit of having chocolate after every meal (yup…that was me). I hated to eat chocolate before I started to date my husband (things change). He loves me and does not mean to have destructive behavior with me, but he will buy something and tell me to “try it” and then I am hooked.
I guess you could say that I have “binge” tendencies. When I was younger if there was food brought into the house you had to eat it the same day or it was gone. I would stuff myself that first day and then starve for the remaining 2-3 weeks until grocery shopping day was here again. With four kids and lots of visitors, that is just what had to be done. Survival of the quickest 😉 I’m not proud just saying….
Here are some pictures of what I have to deal with when I walk into my kitchen. I want you to get a feel for what it’s like. We all have challenges to work past. Keep your eye on the prize. Know the purpose of your goals and you will prevail.
This is not that bad. Normally it’s worse than this.
Lot’s of bread.
I do not think it’s a good thing to force my way of eating on anyone in the house. The only thing I can do is introduce better ways of eating and hope that they follow through. When my husband buys bad foods, he will hide them in the fridge where he knows I won’t search or in places I can’t reach. He tried to help me. You just have to get creative to make it work but, it can work!
It’s kind of like when you block out your significant other because they are getting on your nerves. You have to have blinders on for certain items. I won’t lie though…there are certain things he has to hide from me, and that helps me so much. If you need Ideas, I can help you just send me a message.
How do you make it work with family members who won’t eat like you do?
