We started our weekend out with our usual breakfast. We like to share am omellete in the mornings. I can’t eat the whole thing and I think it’s sweet to eat together like this. Greg usually makes this during the week while I get ready for work. He really takes good care of me.
After breakfast Digger has his usual walk before we head out for the day. Greg and I enjoy going for drives on the weekend and finding new things in the area to do. Life is short so you have to get out and enjoy it all while you can.
Oh, did I mention how much I love boot season?!? Boots are life and the main reason I love fall so much!
The walk around the yard can take a lot out of him but trust me when I tell you that he has a million beds set up around the house. As long as he’s comfortable that’s all that really matters.
We had plans to check out the mountains we can see from our house so we hopped in Greg’s jeep for a quick ride before we switched out to his new top.
Our travels took us to Fort Ritchie. I think this place is so cool and personally don’t think they had anything other than spies at this location. I grew up on an Army base and we never had anything that looked this cool. It reminds me of a castle. What do you think?
This gutter grate is cast iron so you know that was some quality made stuff back in the day. I’m fascinated by things like this. Think about all the secrets and stories that could be told about what went on here. I love how rich this history is here.
All these barracks that held so many people with a common goal. It’s just crazy to think this place was bustling with activity and now it’s like a ghost town. Oh man, I wish these walls could talk but if they did I might be dead.
After we left Fort Ritchie we stopped by a lake in Frederick County. The leaves are changing so quickly this year so I’m glad we were able to get out and enjoy some of it today.
Once we got home we ate lunch and took the new jeep cover out in the sun to warm up so we could install it on Greg’s jeep. Digger wanted to help but he just fell asleep.
The instruction said it should only take about 35 minutes to install the top for the first time but I’m calling BS on that. It took us a few hours before we were all done’

In our defense, Greg wanted to clean the jeep before putting the new Rampage jeep top on.
So, we finally got the top on and even though there may have been some cursing done in the process of this project we are happy with the outcome. I’m sure that next summer the process with become easier and the top will loosen up some.
