Civil War Talk and a Gun Show – 2015

Greg bought the Febreeze car fresheners and I love how well they work so we will need to pick up more.

The man who lived behind us passed away and they were holding an estate sale this weekend. I was able to pick up some old Jim Beam bottles and a few Civil War items. It’s pretty cool because there was a battle fought right down the street but the possibility of fighting happening on our property too is very real. There are historical markers all over this area. It’s all very cool in my opinion.

We went to meet a guy to sell an old iPhone. Greg asked me to text the guy we were meeting but he gave me a flip phone to do it from. I don’t know how to text from a flip phone. Dang, it is 2015 after all 😉

Estate Sale Adventures: Key Tips for Finding Hidden Gems

Hey there, treasure hunters and bargain seekers! 🌟 Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of estate sales? Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious newbie, estate sales can be a goldmine of unique finds and great deals. Today, I’m sharing my top tips on what to look for when you’re exploring these sales. Let’s uncover some hidden gems together! 💎

1. Do Your Research

Before you set foot in an estate sale, do a little homework. Check out listings and photos online to get a sense of what items will be available. Websites like EstateSales.net offer comprehensive listings and previews of upcoming sales, making it easier to target sales that match your interests. 🔍

2. Look for Quality Craftsmanship

Estate sales are often full of furniture and decor from eras gone by. Look for items made with quality materials and craftsmanship – they stand the test of time. Solid wood furniture, hand-woven rugs, and well-made tools are just a few examples. For a guide on identifying quality craftsmanship, visit Spotting Quality in Vintage Finds. 🛠️

3. Know Your Antiques and Collectibles

If you’re into antiques or collectibles, it’s crucial to know what you’re looking for. Familiarize yourself with marks, styles, and the history of the items you’re interested in. Websites like AntiquesNavigator can be a fantastic resource for researching and identifying valuable antiques and collectibles. 🏺

4. Look Beyond the Surface

Sometimes, the best finds need a little TLC. Don’t overlook items that may seem worn or dirty at first glance. With a bit of cleaning or refurbishing, you might reveal a stunning piece. Keep an eye out for items with potential and imagine what a little care could do. 🖌️

5. Check for Rarity and Uniqueness

One of the joys of estate sales is finding items that are rare or one-of-a-kind. Be on the lookout for unique art pieces, limited edition items, or things that have a distinctive character. These finds can add a special touch to your home or become valuable additions to a collection. 🔎

6. Be Mindful of Prices

While estate sales can offer great deals, it’s essential to know the value of what you’re buying. Compare prices, haggle politely if appropriate, and set a budget for yourself. Remember, the goal is to find treasures at a fair price. 💰

7. Enjoy the Experience

Lastly, remember to enjoy the experience of exploring an estate sale. Each sale offers a glimpse into someone’s life and history – it’s almost like walking through a living museum. Take your time, enjoy the hunt, and appreciate the stories behind the items. 🏰

Estate sales are an adventure in shopping, offering a mix of history, nostalgia, and the thrill of the hunt. By doing your research, looking for quality, and keeping an open mind, you can discover incredible treasures and add unique pieces to your collection. Happy hunting, and may you find some amazing gems on your next estate sale adventure! 🎉

Today was our annual Baugher’s apple picking. We love going there and the apples are really good. They don’t use any chemicals on the apples and you can try them before you decide on the ones you want. After picking apples we stopped for lunch and we share our meal
